OVERVIEW

The Feishu Mathematics Symposium 2026, will take place in Shanghai from September 28 to 30, 2026. This event aims to establish a high-level international platform connecting leading mathematicians and interdisciplinary researchers, with a focus on fundamental research in mathematics, mathematics education reform, and emerging applications of mathematics across industries.

Main Mathematics Sessions

The Feishu Math Symposium, as with every year, brings together mathematicians across different fields of mathematics, with a special focus on a topic which changes from year to year. The math symposium of 2026, will host a special program in Optimal Transport organized by Prof. Jose Carrillo and Rob McCann, with a keynote presentation by Alessio Figalli.

Special Workshop

The Symposium will focus on cutting-edge mathematical topics including the Navier–Stokes Millennium Problem, and invite Prof. Diego Córdoba, one of the founding scholars behind the breakthrough on the NS problem, to deliver a keynote speech. The Symposium will also feature a special workshop on Optimal Transport, jointly organized by Prof. José Carrillo and Prof. Rob McCann, with Fields Medalist Prof. Alessio Figalli delivering a keynote lecture. The program will also include a parallel roundtable discussion focusing on resource allocation, coordinated optimization, and intelligent decision-making in complex systems such as shipping, ports, logistics, and supply chains, exploring how world-class mathematical research can be further integrated with Shanghai’s development as an international shipping center.

Multi-Stakeholder Dialoagues

During the Symposium, international scientists, including Fields Medalists, will engage in dialogue with representatives from universities, research institutions, and leading enterprises across Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta. Together, they will explore how to strengthen sustained connections with global mathematics research networks, internationally leading research institutions, and emerging scientific talent, while fostering greater synergy between fundamental research in mathematics and the development of Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta as a globally influential science and technology innovation hub.
